I am a New Age Nana/Grandmother - despite the aches and pains in the joints, the head tells me there is plenty of life in the ‘ol girl’ yet.

Although I am loathe to admit that there are days that I am ‘feeling my age’ - ‘acting my age’ is definitely not on this New Age Nana’s agenda.

I am now at an age when my adult children are telling me it’s time to slow down!!! ‘You’re getting older!!’ You think I don’t know this??? I do have a mirror or 2 in the house!!!   I clearly remember saying similar to my mother - oh how I regret that now. Not that she took any notice - thank goodness.

There may have been ‘Nana Naps’ in our house, but there was never any mention of old age. In fact, my Nana burned her age out of her passport with a cigarette so that no-one knew how old she was. This was the late 1950s and I believe she blamed my sister and I for the misdemeanour when confronted at the airport. Not sure where a 4 and 6 year old found a cigarette back then but I was forever proud of her for doing it!!!! Such a great role model!!!

Whenever I am asked how I am today - I always reply - ‘I’m above ground and that’s a bonus!’

My rule of life …………. Live while you are alive - cos you’re a long time dead.
